Privacy Policy
tl/dr: I'm not a big company. I'm not even a small company. I'm just one person, an author publishing my books myself. I respect and value my readers, newsletter subscribers, site visitors, and my own integrity. I collect a minimal amount of information needed to send my newsletters and make decisions regarding my site and my writing/publishing business. (For example, if I see that I have a large number of site visitors/newsletter subscribers from a certain country, I can make sure to optimize my books' availability in that country.) I do not share this information with anyone except in a few necessary circumstances (see #3 below). I do not rent or sell this information. I do not use it to snoop into your life, spam you, or follow you around the internet.
1. Information I collect:
When you sign up for my email list on my website, I collect your email address. Other list-building services I've used, such as BookFunnel, may also collect your first and last name. I don't need, want, or use your name for anything. If you suspect your name is included with your address on my email list and you want it removed, email me at: [email protected] and I'll remove it. BookFunnel also collects and I save information necessary to verify that you signed up for my email list, such as signup IP and timestamp. I also save your country location for purposes such as EU GDPR.
My email provider, MailerLite, logs your country, how many and what emails you open, and what links you click.
I use StatCounter site stats for my site. It logs your IP address, city and country, language, system info, and length of visit, along with information about pages viewed and links clicked. It does not tell me who you are, your physical address, your email address, or anything else personally identifiable about you. I do not track you after you leave my site.
StatCounter also uses cookies to determine previous and returning visits. No personal information is stored in these cookies. If you want to decline StatCounter cookies, click this link: http://statcounter.com/about/set-refusal-cookie/ This link is also on the footer of every page on my site. You can also set your browser to refuse cookies.
My website provider, Weebly, may log data such as your IP address in connection to visits to my site. The first time you visit my site after these changes, you should be advised of the use of cookies and asked to accept them. Clicking on the social media buttons on my site may result in cookies being placed on your computer. If you don't want those cookies, don't click those buttons. You can also set your browser to refuse cookies.
To leave a comment on my blog or to contact me through my contact form, you will need to provide a name and an email address. Please be aware that the name and any other information your provide in blog comments will be publicly viewable.
My online store is hosted at PayHip. PayHip collects your email address for book delivery purposes, and forwards it to BookFunnel for book delivery fulfillment. PayHip also records your location for tax purposes. Purchases on PayHip are processed through PayPal.
I do not use Google Analytics, Google Ads, Facebook pixels, or other advertising/tracking services.
2. What I do with this information:
I collect your email address so I can send you email newsletters. The newsletters will include (but are not limited to) news about new releases and special offers, news about multi-author promos, featured and recommended books, progress reports and sneak peeks, and links to free stories. I usually send about twice a month after you complete the introductory sequence.
Information about email opens, link clicks, and open locations helps me gauge the success of my email campaigns and improve future campaigns, sort subscribers into different groups in order to send them emails of particular interest, optimize my books' availability, and other things to improve my business and serve my readers better.
I use the StatCounter information to see which pages visitors are viewing, what links they follow, and what countries and languages they represent. This gives me information about where my audience is and what books and pages interest them, which allows me to find ways to reach and serve them better with my site and to grow my business.
I don't use email addresses used in commenting on my blog for anything. If you contact me via the contact form, if I reply, I will use the email address you provided.
3. Sharing:
I don't share your information with anyone, other than with my email provider, MailerLite, or if complying with a legal requirement.
Your information is stored on MailerLite, Weebly, and StatCounter, respectively. I may also store a backup copy of the email addresses on my subscriber list in Google Drive, a secure cloud storage service.
I am not responsible if MailerLite, StatCounter, Weebly, Google Drive, etc. experience a data breach. However, if I do hear about such a breach, I'll do my best to let you know.
4. How long I keep your information:
On StatCounter, details about specific visits fall off my log after the log reaches 500 items.
Contact form information is stored on my Weebly account until I delete it. Other information remains stored on Weebly's servers until deleted, which can be done upon request.
Your information on MailerLite remains until I delete it. You can unsubscribe from my email list any time through the link included in each of my newsletters or by emailing me with a request to unsubscribe, but your information remains on MailerLite to prevent re-subscribes unless you ask me to delete it.
If you want me to delete your information, send your request to [email protected] and I'll do my best to remove it in a timely manner.
5. Children under age 15:
This site, my newsletter, and my books are intended for adults and older teens, ages 17 and up. If you are under the age of 15, please do not provide me with any of your personal data, including your email address.
6. Your rights in relation to your personal data:

I am not responsible for the policies and practices of third parties.
