To give some idea of scale, from Moon Bend to Zir by foot is about five days, figuring a walking speed of 3-4 miles an hour over 8-10 hours per day. The roads follow the rivers; travel through the middle of the country is impossible given the hostile conditions. Urdaisunia is not a large country, but considering the low level of technology and how hot and dry it is, it's amazing that anyone ever gets anywhere.
