What's Ahead in 2026

(Belated) Happy New Year!

This is a year of restructuring and rethinking for me. I'm currently riding out a mild case of burnout, and in the meantime I'm looking at what has and hasn't been working for me, trying some new things, and making changes in the way I do other things.

First off, I've moved my online store to a different platform, Lemon Squeezy. I liked my previous store platform, but it didn't handle US state sales taxes and Lemon Squeezy does, which saves me both the headache and the $70-80 I was spending per year for various business and tax licenses. Over on my Ream platform, I paused paid memberships for a while, but I'll be starting them again at the beginning of February. I'll be serializing some very old novels I wrote more than 30 years ago; instead of just letting them go on gathering dust, I decided to put them to work. I barely remember anything about them, so this should be fun, rediscovering these old stories! Depending on the response to them, I may someday edit and release them on the stores, but until then, Ream will be the only place to read them. Also on Ream I'll be doing a Book of the Month, starting in February with Urdaisunia, plus members get a starter library and other benefits.

Also new is a Reader's Lounge on my site for my newsletter subscribers. This is a password-protected section of my site where subscribers can find all their subscriber bonus scenes and stories in one place (read on site and/or links to download). I'll be able to add a lot of extra goodies more easily than trying to link them all in the newsletter.

Another change I've made is that Beneath the Canyons and Dreams of Magic are no longer free (having free books had run its course as a marketing strategy for me). Watch for specials, though, and both books are included in the starter library for my Ream subscribers. I'll do another post soon on ways to read my books if your reading budget is limited.

But the main change I want to make in 2026 is write more books! I've got a lineup of projects to work on once The Hunter's Flight (Children of the Wildings #3) is released, and in the meantime I'm working on burnout recovery and fatigue recovery, and taking a hard look at my writing process and working on letting go of some old habits and ideas about how I write.
