It's been quite a while since I updated and there's lots to update, so here goes.
Children of the Wildings is now complete with the release of book 3, The Hunter's Flight, in June. The ebook collection of all three books is also available now, in stores and in Kobo Plus. And I finally got the print editions of all three books up. I'm taking a break from the Vendine family for now, not sure for how long, and working on other projects. One is The Conclave of the Wise, a trilogy set in a completely different world with a new magic system (though you could make an argument it fits in the same world as The Lost Book of Anggird, though it takes place in a totally different location with totally different characters). I wrote the first draft a few years ago, and the ending wound up in a totally different place from where I meant it to. So I set out to rewrite it and made it worse. After finishing Hunter's Flight, I set about organizing a second rewrite and worked out all the problems with the first two versions, and finished what I think is a working draft last month. Now I'm letting that one rest while I work on another new project, a series of connected standalones centering around a group of nonconformist mages at an elite school of magic in Granadaia, in the Wildings world. Each mage gets his own story, but all of them will appear in the other books as well. This is a common format in romance series, where you have the motorcycle club or the sports team or the cowboy brothers or whatever, and each one gets his own love story. The mages in this series will each get a love story (of course), but I think the books will still lean more to the fantasy side than the romance side. I'm nearly 10,000 words in on the first book, and I'm excited about this project and having fun with it. I've got another similar series that takes place in the Wildings in the early brainstorming stage; it's too early to talk about it yet. In other news, after moving my store to LemonSqueezy at the beginning of the year, I decided to move back to PayHip. Nothing wrong with LemonSqueezy, a lot of people use it and like it, but I felt more comfortable with PayHip. Then PayHip announced they're now handling U.S. state sales taxes, which was the reason I went to LemonSqueezy in the first place, so hooray! Makes life much easier for me than if I'm messing with taxes myself. Visit the SHOP tab on my website to browse my catalogue; clicking on the covers and buy links will take you to PayHip for checkout. And don't forget to use coupon code WELCOME10 to save 10% on your entire purchase! My Ream subscription is on hold right now. I'll be restructuring it and opening it back up, but that project is on the back burner for a little longer. I'm in the middle of a major project to refresh and revitalize my author/publishing business (the Ream re-do is part of that), so I'm working on a lot of changes. Some of these are visible, like the changes in the appearance of my website (I have brand colors now! which I'm also using across my newsletter and my online store); others are behind the scenes. From refreshing all my book keywords and descriptions to some changes to my book catalogue, there's a lot of work to do, and I'm hoping it will all add up to moving my business forward the way I want it to go. Finally, I've got the Bonus Library up and running for my email subscribers. When you subscribe to my email newsletter, you'll get the super-secret link and password that will open up a feast of bonus scenes and stories, including Rough Justice: A Wildings Prequel and I'll Be Home For New Moon: A Children of the Wildings holiday story, and more! Just tonight, I added some bonus scenes for Urdaisunia, The Lost Book of Anggird, and Sarya's Song. As part of my Master Plan, I'm planning to blog more often, so I will (hopefully) be back soon with more news about my stories and my writing and things I'm loving right now. Comments are closed.
